2010 Newbery Award

When You Reach Me
BY Rebecca Stead

2010 Texas Lone Star Book AND 2010 Newberry Winner!

As her mother prepares to be a contestant on the 1980s television game show, "The $20,000 Pyramid," a twelve-year-old New York City girl tries to make sense of a series of mysterious notes received from an anonymous source that seems to defy the laws of time and space.

Just as the notes say, this book is about time travel. However, there are no flying cars or contraptions that show the actual time travel. You get the 'picture' through notes that an anonymous person leaves Miranda, the main character in the book. Throughout the story, the letters continue, each with its own sense of urgency. Miranda discovers that these notes are crucial to saving her best friends life and the person that is going to save it, will come from the future.
This book is SO GOOD!!! After I read it, I spent the next day trying to make sense of the actual time travel parts and how and why they happened in the order they did! You may have to draw a little diagram to help you understand the time travel part and how all the characters interlope.....Great read!!!!
